This term our unit of inquiry is themed around ‘Sharing the Planet’, and our central idea is ‘Appreciating and caring for the world promotes growth and change.’ We will be following different lines of inquiry to help us discover:
- How do living things grow and change?
- Why do we need to look after our world?
In phonics we will practise our blending and segmenting skills to read and write simple words and sentences using our sounds. We will learn to blend and segment longer words with adjacent consonants, e.g. swim, clap, jump and help. We will continue to learn more ‘tricky’ words which we cannot use our sounds for e.g. ‘said’, ‘like’, have’ and ‘so’.
We will be taking part in weekly yoga classes, as well as practising the skills we will need for our sports day activities.
In maths we will be learning to use everyday language related to money. We will be learning to halve amounts and that, when we are halving, each half must be the same. We will also be learning to measure length and height using non-standard measurements.
