This term our unit of inquiry is themed around ‘How the World Works’, and our central idea is ‘People in communities work together to keep us safe’. We will be following different lines of inquiry to help us discover:
Our core texts this term are:
- Who helps us to keep safe?
- How do they work together to keep us safe?
- How can we keep ourselves safe?
Our core texts this term are:
In phonics we will be continuing learn the phase 3 digraphs (2 letters that make one sound) such as ai, ee, oi and ow as well as learning some trigraphs (3 letters that make one sound) igh, ear, air and ure. We will practise our blending and segmenting skills to read and write simple words and phrases using our sounds. We will continue to learn more ‘tricky’ words which we cannot use our sounds for e.g. ‘you’, ‘they’, ‘was’ and ‘me’.
This term we will be continuing to take part in ‘BEAM’ sessions as a class. In addition, we will also be taking part in weekly Balanceability sessions in small groups. Balanceability is delivered by qualified instructors in the hall and the sessions are designed to provide children with the best possible start in cycling. We look forward to developing and learning valuable cycling skills.

In Maths we will be learning to use the language of ‘more’ and ‘fewer’ to compare two amounts. We will also be learning to find one more than a given number using objects. We will extend this learning to find the total number of items in two groups by counting all of them. Then we will estimate how many objects we can see and learn to check by counting them.
Term 3 Home Learning
We love to see all the fantastic learning experiences the pupils have had at home. Pupils are invited to stick in any home learning evidence in their books or upload evidence to Tapestry. We enjoy sharing the children’s achievements in class.
