PE & sport premium

Purpose of the premium

The premium must be used to fund additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport, for the benefit of primary-aged pupils, in the 2018 to 2019 academic year, to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles.

Basis of allocation

The Government is providing funding of £320 million per annum for academic year to provide new and substantial primary school sport funding. Each school will receive 16,000 plus £10 per child on roll and the money can be spent on sport and PE provision in schools.

Purpose of the funding

Schools will have to spend the sport funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this.

For the 2018/19 academic year Skinners' Kent Primary School have allocated the funding to providing a variety of different sporting activities to enrich the PE curriculum and after school clubs, update our sports equipment and resource onsite Forest School equipment and set up which will provide an opportunity that will increase pupil participation in a range of alternative sporting activities. This is our chance to make a real difference to the next generation's health and well-being.

We have also allocated the funding to enable us to employ PE coaches. All of our PE coaches will continue to work along-side teaching staff to ensure that every teacher feels confident to teach Physical Education of the highest quality, across a wide variety of sports.

At Skinners' Kent Primary School we believe that all pupils should be taught sport to a good standard, according to their individual needs. Our broad aim, for all the children in PE and games, is to promote healthy physical development through the acquisition of skills, co-operation and confidence. We endeavour to achieve this in an atmosphere which encourages individual and team effort. The children take part in movement and dance, apparatus work and educational gymnastics, team games and athletics.
