The Skinners’ Company and School
The Skinners’ Company, one of the original ‘Great Twelve’ London livery companies, has long experience of establishing, running and supporting excellent schools, notably in West Kent. The Company is now responsible for seven schools: Tonbridge School, The Judd School in Tonbridge, The Skinners’ School and The Skinners' Kent Academy in Tunbridge Wells, The Skinners' Academy in London and The Marsh Academy in New Romney. Skinners' Kent Primary School opened in Tunbridge Wells in September 2015.
The Skinners’ School Headmaster, Mr Wesson, says: ”We are very pleased to have the opportunity to benefit more children in this area and to add to the educational provision in Tunbridge Wells. It is a great town to work in and a great town to go to school in. I am sure that Skinners’ Kent Primary School will raise that standard even further.”
Brian Plummer, Clerk to the Skinners’ Company, says: "The Skinners’ Company is delighted at the government's recent decision to allow them to sponsor a new primary academy in Tunbridge Wells. It will be known as Skinners' Kent Primary School. It will be closely linked to The Skinners' Kent Academy and will be an important part of the provision of first class education to children in the area."
Roger Gough, Kent County Council Cabinet Member for Education said: “We are pleased to be working with The Skinners’ Foundation, with its strong tradition of providing high quality education in Kent, to provide this new school. This exciting development will help meet demand for school places in the area from the new housing development.”
