Rowena Cowen

Position:

Foundation Governor (appointed by The Skinners' Company)
Appointed from 1st September 2019

Profile:
Rowena was born in Pembury hospital but grew up in Northumberland. She trained as a primary school teacher at Durham University and gained a B.Ed. Rowena enjoyed teaching KS2 in two different schools in London until her first child was born.
She has always loved reading and whilst her children were young she spent time volunteering with local children's literacy charity 'Doorstep Library', before returning to the school environment. Initially Rowena worked as the sole teaching assistant in a newly established but growing primary school in Fulham and, after 8 years became their school librarian, which is a role that she loves.
SKPS interests Rowena educationally on many levels and she is delighted to be able to be a part of it.

Nadine Lunn

Position:
Parent Governor (elected by parents)
Appointed from 15th January 2018

Profile:
Despite moving to the north-west Highlands in August 2019, Nadine feels very privileged to be a part of the governing body, having had her three children educated within the Skinner’s family of schools, two at SKA and one at SKPS until their move north.

Being a Governor has taught Nadine a great deal about what goes on behind the scenes and just how much hard work is needed to ensure the continuous, successful running of a school. Without the voice of the pupils, their parents/carers and staff, both on and off site, this would not be possible and so, if she is able to share the thoughts of those around her, she hopes that every child grows and is as happy as hers were, and that every parent/carer and member of staff feels as confident in the education, ethos and values of the school as she does.

Zoe Balding

Position:
Staff Governor (elected by the staff)
Appointed from 14th January 2019

Profile:

Zoe enjoyed a 25-year career as a journalist, working on a wide range of women’s lifestyle and home interest titles. When her second child started school in 2017, she decided the time was right to fulfil a long-held ambition to work with children. She started at SKPS as a parent volunteer, before stepping into the role of Lunchtime Supervisor. In September 2018 she became a Teaching Assistant.

As a governor, Zoe would like to raise awareness among the teaching staff of the work that the governors do and ensure that the opinions and viewpoints of staff are being listened to at board level.
