Skinners’ Kent Primary School Equality Objectives

We pride ourselves at Skinners’ Kent Primary School as being a fully inclusive school, with all staff dedicated to ensuring that our ethos enables pupils and staff to have high standards and high aspirations, a culture of active participation, an emotionally rich and inclusive learning environment within which every child is known and every learner supported. We have consistently high expectations of all pupils, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, ability or social background.  We are committed to meeting different needs and take steps to foster good relations, tackle prejudice and promote understanding between people from different groups.

Our objectives are:

  • To ensure the school environment is as accessible as possible to pupils, staff and visitors to the school.
  • To provide differentiated provision to meet all pupils’ learning needs including those with Disabilities and/or Special Educational Needs and those identified as Most Able and Talented. For more information, see our Most Able and Talented Policy, Behaviour and Discipline Policy, SEND Policy and Supporting Students with Medical Conditions Policy.
  • To narrow the gap between disadvantaged children and their peers.
  • To continue to ensure that displays are reflective of the school community.
  • To extend and enhance our existing curriculum programme for spiritual, moral, social and cultural development to reflect the growing number of pupils and the increasing age range.
  • Through the development of cross school discussion and debate groups, to create opportunities for all pupils to become active citizens of the future, upholding positive ethical values and engaging with national life and institutions.
  • To promote cultural development and understanding through a rich range of experience, both in school, locally, nationally and internationally.
  • To eradicate prejudice related bullying in relation to the protected characteristics listed in the Equality Act 2010 (please see Equal Opportunities Policy for more information).
  • To ensure that all pupils are given similar opportunities with regards to clubs.
  • To allow equal access to information for all parents.
