About Our School

Skinners' Kent Primary School is proud to be a part of the Skinners' heritage and part of the successful Skinners' Kent Academy Trust, and will endeavour to maintain the extremely high standards and excellent levels of teaching set by our Trust. Skinners' Kent Primary School will be overseen by The Skinners' Kent Academy Trust. The other Trust school, The Skinners' Kent Academy (SKA) located nearby has caused somewhat of a whirlwind in Tunbridge Wells, going from strength to strength each year with ever improving GCSE Results.

The Skinners’ Foundation was delighted to have been asked by the Department of Education to sponsor a new primary school at Knights Wood in Tunbridge Wells.

The Skinners’ Foundation, with the support of The Skinners’ School and The Skinners’ Kent Academy Trust, runs the new school. Both institutions have a strong track record in providing excellent education and enrichment in West Kent.
The combination of tradition, ethos, outstanding achievement and progress for young people fully extends into the Primary School.

The School has Academy status and is known as Skinners’ Kent Primary School (SKPS). It educates boys and girls aged 4 to 11 and initially opened in September 2015 with 30 places in Year R and 15 places in Year 1.  There is a phased programme of growth to a capacity of 210 students across 7 classes with the potential to extend to two form entry, in line with the projected increase in the birth rate. In addition, a Satellite class (managed by Oakley School) provides inclusive provision for up to 15 pupils with special educational needs.

The new building is situated in the Knights Wood housing development, the provision of which is part of the Kent Commissioning Plan for Education Provision in Kent 2013-18.

The Skinners’ Kent Academy Trust Executive Principal, Mrs Carr, says:   “This is a wonderful opportunity: as educators it is our job to ensure that ALL our students, be they 4 or 18, receive the highest quality education and develop the character and skills to be successful.”
